It is not possible to modify the serial numbers of assets once the entries are saved. You can however recode it by going to Assets ➔ Assets ➔ Maintain, selecting the relevant item, and then clicking Recode.
After you have clicked Recode, the message "This process may take some time. Continue?" will be displayed.
Click this to continue the recoding process.
Click this to cancel the recoding process.
After clicking Yes, the following fields will be displayed:
This displays the old serial number. This field cannot be edited.
Type the new serial number. By default, the old serial number is pre-filled in this field.
Click this to change the serial number of the asset to the new serial number.
