Product: Exact Event Manager
Release: 1.9.1
Release Date: 25 januari 2014
Release Overview
Exact Event Manager product update 1.9.1 is the successor of product update 1.9. This release offers a large number of new features to extend the support of business process automation. In addition this release includes fixes on issues/bugs reported. The new features include:
-
Running a program (action)
-
Print documents via network printer (action)
-
Fax document via mail-fax (action)
-
Fax document via fax-service (action)
-
File folder watcher (event)
-
File folder writer (action)
-
FTP watcher (event)
-
FTP writer (action)
On top of this it will be possible to use Exact Synergy Enterprise document attachments in e-mail, printing and faxing, similar to SSRS and Crystal reports.
Running a program
This features supports running an executable or batch as an action. The executable installed on the service should have no messages and support command line execution, since it will be called as an action not requiring any user interaction. It is possible to define parameters for the action which are used to set the attributes for the command line. The parameters are based from the alert result similar to current supported actions.
Network printer
Documents received via e-mail, reports generated using SSRS or Crystal Reports and Exact Synergy Enterprise document attachments can be directly send to a network printer. Precondition is the network printer is setup in the network in such a way it supports the document types generated and access to the printer is granted.
Fax support
Fax will be supported in two ways. First option is to use a fax e-mail service. This means the fax is send to a fax service provider which will forward the fax to a specific fax number of the recipient. This option is useful if you don't have a fax machine yourself. The second option is to use your fax own fax machine using Microsoft fax drivers. In both cases you can use a cover page and fax multiple documents at once.
File folder watcher and writer
Files folders can be used in two ways. First a file folder watcher is supported. The watcher is an event detecting a file appears on a folder location. This event can be used to trigger an action to process the file, like send via e-mail, print or store in Exact Synergy Enterprise as document attachment.
The second option is an action to write a file (document) to a folder location. This action supports writing e-mail attachments received, SSRS or Crystal reports generated and ESE Document attachments to a file folder location.
FTP folder watcher en writer
The FTP support offers similar functionality as file folder support, expect that files can be read from or written to an FTP site. This is useful to transfer files between systems via the internet. Whereas file folders can be useful within the boundary of a local IT system, FTP sites can be used to allow external resources to read and write files.
Nice to mention is that both file folder and FTP features includes automatically zipping files as an option.
Exact Synergy document attachments
As already mentioned ESE documents support is improved. Similar to support of Crystal reports and SSRS also ESE Document attachments can be used as attachments being printed, send via e-mail or fax.
This feature is only supported in case the SQL event includes the ID of the document attachments in the result set.
