Technical manuals - Application Request Routing

Conventions

The following conventions will be used:

  • <server> this is the server on which the web server and the AppServers are running
  • <progress> this is the directory in which Progress OpenEdge has been installed, for example 'c:\progress\oe10.2b'
  • <tomcat> this is the directory in which Apache Tomcat (http://tomcat.apache.org) has been installed, for example 'c:\program files\apache software foundation\tomcat 6.0'

Configuration

  1. install Application Request Routing (current version 2.5) on the Web Server
  2. start IIS Manager and select the server node
  3. start Application Request Routing Cache
  4. select 'Server Proxy Settings...' and Enable Proxy
  5. start URL Rewrite
  6. select 'Add Rule(s)...'
  7. select 'Blank rule'
  8. 'Edit Inbound Rule':
  9. go to Tomcat serlets examples and execute 'Hello World' servlet
  10. remove :8080 from URL and refresh to check that ARR is working correctly
  11. now adjust the patter of the inbound rule to redirect AppServer Internet Adapter traffic to Tomcat:
    • pattern: (aia/.+)
  12. remove :8080 from AppServer connection information in exact.pro / WebClient Deployment -param so that it is now '-URL "http://<server>/aia/Aia?AppService=as70exact"'
