Installation and configuration of the Exact Entity service for Exact Globe(SOAP/REST Webservice API)

The following details regarding installation and configuration of Globe need to be taken into consideration if a machine is meant to be used by 3rd party solutions that exchange data through the Entity service.

Installation

The machine that serves as host for the Entity service needs to have a full workstation installation of Exact Globe installed. This installation includes a windows service that hosts an instance of the Entity service. No additional software needs to be installed provided the host machine meets all documented system requirements, including the correct version of WCF Data services.

SQL Server

The SQL server instance that holds the Globe database needs to have the special user named “baco” defined as a login. This user will normally be automatically created when a new Globe company is created on that database instance.

The Globe database needs to have the application role named “baco” defined. Please contact Support if this role has been removed or tampered with.

Configuration of Globe

The host needs to be authorized within the Globe administration as a valid endpoint for the Entity service. To do this, start Globe, on the host machine, as administrator (elevated rights are needed to create the configuration file this process sets up), using a user that has the Administrator role in Globe (needed to access the menu path this function runs under). Go to the menu path System\HR&Security\Workstations. In this screen, press the button labeled “Add services”. If this machine has already been authorized as valid Entity service host, this button will instead be labeled “Remove services”, and pressing it will actually revoke webservice authorization.

The user calling the Entity service (whose credentials are supplied in the HTTP request) needs to have sufficient rights in Globe to functionally perform the actions that the webservice call is expected to perform. For example, if the webservice is to be used to create sales orders, the user used in the request needs to have all rights needed to enter sales orders through the menu patch Order\Entry\Sales orders.
