Product Update 243: Customization of Project Card Supported

Introduction

Project cards are used to gather information around an event. This event can be an internal or external project, campaign, sales order, or just functions as a placeholder. The broad ways in which projects are used require organizations to define their project card layout.

You can define how your project cards will look like in the new, view, and edit modes. It is possible to select which fields should be visible to whom and which fields are mandatory.

What has been changed

The following are changes to the project card:         

  • Ability to customize project card
  • Default set of fields available in the project card

Ability to customize project card

The project card can be customized. A new Function right 322 – Maintain project settings is added whereby only users with this function right can customize a project card. You can also choose to hide certain fields when customizing the project card. Access to view fields can be given to the respective group of people. For those who cannot view unauthorized fields, you can perform the search function. To customize the settings, click  on the project card. However, customization can be done at the corporate level only. In the customization section, the following can be done:     

  • Defining the fields per project type in new, view, and edit modes.
  • Defining who can see which fields.
  • Defining which fields should be mandatory when creating or editing the project card.

The setting for mandatory rights per field is applicable only for the New and Edit modes. Once the mandatory fields for a project are set to mandatory by default, you will not be able to edit these fields.

The setting for function rights is applicable for New, Edit, and View modes. You can also specify a different set of settings per project type.

Default set of fields available in the project card

A project card contains a lot of information. By default, a set of fields has been defined. These will be the default fields for your project card once Exact Synergy Enterprise is updated to product update 243. If the default fields do not support your needs, it can be easily customized.

You will see the following default fields when creating a project card:       

  • Type
  • Code
  • Description
  • Security level
  • Only visible to members
  • Manager
  • Start date (End date)
  • Status
  • Remarks

You will see the following additional default fields under the Monitor section when viewing a project card:

  • Accounts
  • Workflow
  • Documents

The Text section is renamed to Remarks section.
