After tasks are created, the tasks have to be planned to resources. Tasks are automatically generated while creating certain orders or requests or manually created at Projects/Planning/Tasks. Initially, all tasks are not planned to any resource unless a resource is specified in an order or request line. In order to control the available capacity and to compare the planning with realizations, the tasks have to be planned to resources.
Resource planning is an important tool to ensure that the labor hour requirements derived from various requests and projects are fulfilled and executed by the correct resources. You will see the labor hour capacity of a resource only after you have generated the corresponding Master Resource Schedule (MRS) at HR ➔ Human Resources ➔ Maintain. On the other hand, you will see the labor hour requirements only after you have generated the following:
In this screen, you can identify the labor hour requirements and match them with the labor hour capacity of a resource. You can plan tasks to resources, re-plan tasks to another resource or date, and create sales orders from the overview. Once the tasks are planned, you can perform realizations. For more information, see Performing realizations for a resource on daily basis, Performing realizations for a resource on weekly basis, Performing realizations for a cost center on weekly basis, Performing additional realizations for a project on weekly basis, and How to: Managing projects.
