Creating and maintaining cost center sub-categories

Introduction

A cost center category can be broken down to a sub-category. Sub-categories are details of how you classify the cost centers in the selected cost center category. In the Sub categories screen, two columns namely Code and Description, will be displayed. In this screen, you can add, edit, or delete a sub-category.

Note: By default, a value of None is available for all category levels.

What version are you using?

The information in this document is applicable to product update 407 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features explained here will not be applicable.

How do I create a sub-category for a cost center category?

  1. In the Categories screen, click  Maintain: Properties at the corresponding cost center category.
  2. Click New.
  3. In the Sub categories: Properties screen at Code, type a code for the new sub-category. This code should consist of a maximum of 30 characters and may contain only letters or numbers without spaces.
  4. At Description, type a description for the new sub-category.
  5. Click Save, and then click Close.

Keep in mind:

  • All fields with the “!” icon are mandatory.
  • A message “Save the new data?” will be displayed if you did not click Save before creating another sub-category. Click Yes to save the data.

How do I edit a sub-category for a cost center category?

  1. In the Categories screen, click  Maintain: Properties at the corresponding cost center category.
  2. Select the relevant sub-category and click  Edit.
  3. Edit the Description field.
  4. Click Save, and then click Close.

Keep in mind: The Code field cannot be modified.

How do I delete a sub-category for a cost center category?

  1. In the Categories screen, click  Maintain: Properties at the corresponding cost center category.
  2. Select the relevant sub-category and click Delete.
  3. The message “Delete: Sub categories, XXX. Depending on the size of your company, this function may take a long time because all files will be checked. Delete?” will be displayed.
  4. Click Yes.

Keep in mind: The default value of the none category or sub-category cannot be deleted.
