Serial numbers are unique numbers that are used to identify and track individual units of the same or different products. Serial numbers are used to track the items for quality control purpose and service warranty period. This page allows you to search for a list of serial numbers that are available. After clicking Show, you will see the results displayed in another page where other actions can be performed by clicking the hyperlinks.
Logistics/Reports/Search/Serial numbers
To assign, modify and delete the serial numbers linked to the items function right 21 – Maintain Item (serial) numbers is required. Users with the Item number assigner role have this function right.
For more details on what you can do with function rights or levels, go to System/Setup/Security/Function rights, select the required module, and then click on the relevant ID. To find out the functions you can perform with a particular role, go to System/Setup/Security/Roles, type in the description, click Refresh, and then click the required link under the Role column.
Click Show to display serial numbers that match the search criteria. You will see the results displayed in another page where other actions can be performed by clicking the hyperlinks.
Click this to clear the defined criteria.
Click this to count the total number of serial numbers that meet the specified search criteria.
Click this to display the default fields or sections.
Click this to define the search criteria for the serial numbers that you want to view. This button is available after you click Show.
Click this to create a new serial number. This button is available after you click Show. For more information on creating new serial numbers, see Creating and Modifying Serial Numbers/Batch Numbers.
Click this to exit.
Type a full or partial serial number to search for matching serial numbers.
Type a full or partial description to display the matching serial numbers. There are five search conditions available when you click the icon. Each icon will change the search condition to:
Type or select an item to display the serial numbers that are linked to this item.
Type or select an account to display the serial numbers that are linked to this account.
Type or select a division to display the serial numbers that are linked to this division.
Type or select an assortment to display the serial numbers that are linked to the items categorized under this assortment.
Type or select a country to display the serial numbers that are linked to this country.
Type or select a date or a range of dates to display the serial numbers that are valid within the date range. If you fill in a start date only, the serial numbers that are valid starting from the date are displayed. If you fill in an end date only, the serial numbers that are valid until this date are displayed.
Select this check box to display serial numbers that are used in requests.
Select this check box to display serial numbers that are linked to items that have available stock.
Note: If you select this, the Show: Requests check box will automatically be selected. This is because you need to create a request to order stock.
Select this check box to display serial numbers that have expired. This option will display the active serial numbers as well as the expired serial numbers.
Select this check box to display the serial numbers that are used in requests that have not been assigned to a resource.

Type or select a person to display the serial numbers that are linked to the items under the responsibility of this person.
You can save your search criteria as a template. For more information, see Creating and Modifying Templates.
Click at the title bar to customize the fields, columns, or sections. You can add or remove existing criteria based on your preferences by selecting or clearing the relevant check boxes. Click Save to save the settings, Default to reset your selections to the default setting, or Close to exit without saving.
