Choosing bill of materials for item replacement

Selecting Bill of Material for Item Replacement

Description

The following screen is displayed once the Show list or Replace button is clicked at Manufacturing/Planning/Replace. For more information, see Replacing Item in Bills of Material.

It lists the assembled items and the BOM versions that contain the part to be replaced where you can perform the part replacement. You can also quickly view and edit the selected item’s information by clicking Maintain.

List section

Note: It is possible that not all columns in this example are displayed. You can add or remove columns as required by right-clicking the column header and selecting Insert column or Delete column. For more information, see Inserting and deleting columns.

You can select from the list one or several assembled items and versions where you want to replace the part item. Hold down CTRL and click the items you want. Alternatively, hold down SHIFT and click to select all items between the two selected ones.

Assembled item

This column displays the item code of the assembled item that contains the part to be replaced. The item code is based on the Item code defined at the item maintenance (go to Manufacturing/Setup/Items, select the relevant item, and click Open), under the Basics tab. For more information, see Creating and Maintaining Items - Basics Tab.

Version

This column displays the bill of material (BOM) version number of the assembled item that contains the part to be replaced. The version number is based on the Version number defined at the BOM maintenance (go to Manufacturing/Setup/BOM, select relevant BOM, and click Open). For more information, see Overview of Bill of Materials.

Description (Assembled item)

This column displays the description of the assembled item that contains the part to be replaced. The description is based on the Description defined at the item maintenance (go to Manufacturing/Setup/Items, select the relevant item, and click Open), under the Basics tab. For more information, see Creating and Maintaining Items - Basics Tab.

Description (BOM)

This column displays the description of the BOM version that contains the part to be replaced. The description is based on the version description defined at the BOM maintenance (go to Manufacturing/Setup/BOM, select the relevant BOM, and click Open). For more information, see Overview of Bill of Materials.

Condition

This column displays the status of the assembled item that contains the part to be replaced. The condition is based on the Status defined at the item maintenance (go to Manufacturing/Setup/Items, select the relevant item, and click Open), under the Basics tab. For more information, see Creating and Maintaining Items - Basics Tab.

Buttons

Deselect all

Click this to deselect all rows in the list. The Maintain and Replace buttons will be disabled when none of the rows are selected.

Select all

Click this to select all rows in the list. The Maintain button will be disabled if there is more than one row selected.

Maintain

Click this to view and edit information of the selected item. The button is enabled if there is only one row selected. For more information, see Overview of Items and Creating and maintaining items.

Replace

Click this to perform the part replacement for assembled items and BOM versions selected in the list. The Replace items screen will be displayed, asking you to confirm the operation. Click Yes to replace the item or No to cancel the operation and exit.

Close

Click this to exit.
