It is possible for you to change the assortment of an existing item. You may want to change the assortment of an item due to a change on the usage of the item. For example,(not wrong, just standardizing) an item which is originally grouped under the raw materials assortment can be moved to the products assortment if your company decides to sell the item to customers as a product.
Go to Logistics/Reports/Search/Items, define the search criteria, and then click Show to display the overview of items. Under the Code column, click the item code which you want to change the assortment, and then click Edit. Next, click Actions followed by Move: Assortment.
To change the assortment of items, function right 283 – Allows to adjust assortment of a single item is required. Users with the Item management role have this function right.
For more details on what you can do with function rights or levels, go to System/Setup/Security/Function rights, select the required module, and then click on the relevant ID. To find out the functions you can perform with a particular role, go to System/Setup/Security/Roles, type in the description, click Refresh, and then click the required link under the Role column.
Click this to move the item from the previous assortment to the new assortment. After you have clicked this, you will see a confirmation message to move the item to the new assortment. Click Yes. Next, you will see a message that confirms the successful movement of the item to the new assortment.
Click this to exit.
Type or select the item code which you want to change its assortment.
This displays the current assortment of the selected item.
Select the new assortment which the selected item will be moved to. Available options depend on the assortments you have created. For more information, see Creating and Modifying Assortments.
In this section, the assortment categories are displayed under the Property column. The Old column displays the current assortment properties of the item. Under the New column, you can select the new assortment properties under each assortment category. Available options of assortment properties depend on the assortment properties you have created. For more information, see Creating and Modifying Assortment Properties.
Note: Under the New column, you may not be able to define the new assortment properties for the item if the new assortment you have selected at Assortment – New is not linked to any assortment property. For more information, see Linking Assortment Properties to Assortments.
