Usually, opportunities exist when potential or existing customers are interested in a specific or an assortment of products and services offered by your company. These products or services exist as items in the system and can be linked to the opportunity card to indicate the goal of the opportunity and the planned amount of revenue to be achieved. You can also view the details for each individual item in the list. Listing items in the opportunity card is useful when you already know which items or group of items your customers are interested in, and if the list is a long one.
Depending on the progress of the sales cycle and the outcome of the negotiations, you may need to add, remove, or modify the quantity of the items in the opportunity card. To modify the quantity for any of the items, click Edit. You can remove items that you no longer need in the opportunity card by clicking at the relevant items.
To add new items, click New. Alternatively, you can click Add in the Items section of the opportunity card. For more information see Adding Items in Opportunities.
To view all items for the opportunity card, go to Customers/Report/Opportunity management/Search, define the relevant criteria and click Show. Then, click the opportunity code in the Opportunity: Code column. In the opportunity card, click All in the Items section.
To modify items in opportunities, go to Customers/Report/Opportunity management/Search, define the relevant criteria and click Show. Then, click the opportunity code in the Opportunity: Code column. In the opportunity card, click All in the Items section, and then click Edit.
All users can access this page.
Users with the following security rights are allowed to add or edit the items in opportunities. For more information, see Security of the Opportunity.
For more details on what you can do with function rights or levels, go to System/Setup/Security/Function rights, select the required module, and then click on the relevant ID. To find out the functions you can perform with a particular role, go to System/Setup/Security/Roles, type in the description, click Refresh, and then click the required link under the Role column.
Click this to modify the quantity information for the items in the list.
Click this to update the list of items.
Click this to add new items to the opportunity card. Alternatively, you can click Add under the Items section in the opportunity card. For more information, see Adding Items in Opportunities.
Click this to exit.
You will see a list of items in the opportunity card. At the top of the screen, you will see the code for the opportunity card and description. You can click on the code and description to return to the opportunity card. The following are the columns in the overview:
This displays the code of the item. Click the code to view the item card. For more information, see Viewing Item Cards.
This displays the description for the item.
This displays the status of the item.
This displays the quantity for the item in the opportunity card. If you are modifying the quantity, type a numerical value to specify the quantity of the item(s).
Note: This is enabled for editing if you are modifying an existing item in the list.
This displays the unit of measurement for the sales unit of the item.
This displays the sales price of the item in the currency of the opportunity.
This displays the total amount for the item. It is calculated based on the quantity multiplied by the sales price of the item.
Click to delete the selected item. You will see a message "Confirm: Delete?" Click OK to delete or Cancel to cancel the deletion.
Note: This is available only if you have the security rights to edit the opportunity card. For more information, see Viewing Opportunity Cards.
Click to calculate the total amount for all the items. The total will be updated automatically to the Planned amount in the opportunity card.
Note: This is available only when you are viewing the opportunity card after clicking All in the Items section.
Click at the title bar to customize the columns and the order in which the items are displayed. You can add or remove existing columns based on your preferences by adding or removing the column names. Click Save to save the settings, Default to reset your selections to the default setting, or Close to exit without saving.
