Maintaining layouts: Explanation on blocks

Introduction

This document explains the blocks that exist in every type of layout and data that belong to the specific blocks. The type of data that can be inserted in blocks are images, frames, text fields, and calculation fields.

A layout can be made up of several blocks or parts. Every field in the layout belongs to a specific block. Through the block system, you can add various fields in the layout. Depending on the types of layouts, every layout may have different blocks and block settings.

All the document layouts in the various sections at System ? General ? Settings ? Document settings have different sets of blocks. Click the sections to read more about the blocks available in each document layout related to the respective sections.

  • See Cash flow section – Payments, payment specifications, receipts, and deposit report.
  • See CRM section – Quotations.
  • See HRM section – Payroll slips and resource labels.
  • See Service section – Service slips.
  • See Logistics section – Item labels, purchase orders, blanket purchase orders, receipts, receipt labels, returns by supplier or employee, IBT delivery notes, confirmations, picking lists et cetera.

What version are you using?

The information in this document is applicable to product update 407 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features explained here will not be applicable.

How do I define the blocks to be displayed on, or removed from the first page, subsequent pages, or last page?

  1. In Document settings, click  at any document layout.
  2. Select the required document layout.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. In the Layout screen, click to select any block in the layout, and then click Edit on the menu bar, and then select Block settings.
  5. In the Block settings screen, select or clear the First page, Subsequent pages, and Last page check boxes to determine which pages the blocks must be displayed on the layout.
  6. Click OK.

Note: The blocks can only be defined to be displayed on the first page, subsequent pages, or the last page for existing layouts.
