Creating jobs setup tab page "steps".

Introduction

The main document explains the situations the jobs are used. The next list of steps should be followed in order to setup jobs in the SQL Server Agent.

Explanation

Click on New. A new screen is displayed with tab page "General":

• In the Step name box, enter a job step name.
• In the Type list, click Operating system command (CmdExec).
• In the Process exit code of a successful command box, enter a value from 0 to 999999. Default value is 0.
• In the Command box, enter the operating system command or executable program.

Tab page "Advanced":

• In the On success action list select an action. Three actions are available.
  • Quit the job reporting success. After the job has been run successful it will stop.
  • Quit the job reporting failure.After the job has not been run successful it will stop.
  • Go to next step. The next step will started to run after the first has been run succesful.
• In Retry attempts the number of retrials can be defined as well the duration of the Retry interval.
• In the On failure action list select an action. Actions as decribed On success action.
