Why can’t I create return to work requests?
There are several possibilities to this:
1. Do you have the right or role create return to work requests?
Please check the settings defined for the Return to work request type via the request type maintenance screen. Select the particular request type and go to the Flow tab. In the Who can create a request? section, see if you fit the defined criteria. By default, the settings are configured as per the following screen:
If you are using the default settings, the following statements will apply:
a) Employees cannot create return to work requests for themselves.
b) If an employee is filled in the Person field, only the direct or indirect manager can create return to work requests for that particular employee.
c) Any direct or indirect manager with HR or HR assistant role can create return to work requests.
d) Anyone with HR role at Division level can create return to work requests.
e) Anyone with HR assistant role at Division level can create return to work requests.
2. Are the settings defined and prerequisites met?
A couple of settings have to be defined before the return to work feature can be used. Some prerequisites on the request type have to be defined as well. Please check with your administrators or HR employees if these have been set up. For more information on the settings and prerequisites, see this document.
3. Is the parent request already completed?
You are not able to create a return to work request from a parent request that has been completed. The Return to work button will not be available in the parent request. For more information on what is a parent request, see Managing return to work events of employees.
4. Is the status of the request New, Draft, Rejected, or Completed?
It is not possible to create return to work requests from a parent request with the following status — New, Draft, Rejected, and Completed.
