Installation Exact Globe+

Introduction

Exact Globe+ needs to be installed before you can start working with the software. Besides Exact Globe+, Microsoft SQL Server needs to be installed for managing the databases of your companies. This document explains the different scenarios.

Check the system requirements

Check the system requirements to determine if your system meets the requirements for the specific product update and which version of MS SQL Server is supported in combination with that product update.

Installation

For the installation, it is assumed that SQL Server is already installed. If this is not the case, you first have to install SQL Server. In a standalone scenario, you have to install SQL Server on the workstation. When working in a network environment, SQL Server needs to be installed on the server. For Exact Globe+ two installation scenarios are possible:

• Standalone installation - In a standalone scenario, you have one computer on which you are working with Exact Globe+. Both Exact Globe+ and SQL Server are installed on this computer. It is possible that this computer is part of a network but if you are only using Exact Globe+ on this computer and all software related to Exact is installed on this computer, then this is a standalone installation.
• Network installation - The SQL Server is installed on the server. A network installation of Exact Globe+ is installed on the server. On the different workstations, a workstation installation of Exact Globe+ is performed. In a company, multiple people can work at the same time.

All these steps have to be performed on the workstation.

1. Log in as administrator on the computer where you want to install Exact Globe+.
2. Download the ProductUpdater_T25.exe by right clicking this link and selecting Save link as or Save target as, and place the file in a location on the computer where you want to perform the installation.
3. Click the file to start the installation.
4. Enter your login credentials:
• User name: Type the user name to log in to the customer portal.
• Password: Type the password that is used to log in to the customer portal.
5. Click Install.
6. Click Next to install the latest version or click Advanced settings to change the installation settings.
7. In the advanced settings the following can be defined:
• Version: Select the version number that you want to install. The highest allowed product update or service pack that you can download will automatically be displayed.
• Installation directory: Type or select the folder where the application files of Exact Globe+ are located.
• Install mode: Select the installation mode. For a standalone installation, select Internet workstation installation.
• Download demo company: Select this check box to download the files of a demo company during the installation.
• Download offline help files: Select this check box to download all the help files. These help files are available when you are offline.
8. Click Next to continue.
9. The system will determine how many files need to be installed.
10. Click Install to start the installation.
11. Once the installation is done, a notification is displayed asking you if you want to open Exact Globe+.

In a network installation, Exact Globe+ is installed on the server. On the different workstations, a workstation installation of Exact Globe+ is performed.

1. Log in as administrator on the computer where you want to install Exact Globe+.
2. Download the ProductUpdater_T25.exe by right clicking this link and selecting Save link as or Save target as, and place the file in a location on the computer where you want to perform the installation.
3. Click the file to start the installation.
4. Enter your login credentials:
• User name: Type the user name to log in to the customer portal.
• Password: Type the password that is used to log in to the customer portal.
5. Click Install.
6. Click Advanced settings to change the installation settings.
7. In the advanced settings the following can be defined:
• Version: Select the version number that you want to install. The highest allowed product update or service pack that you can download will automatically be displayed.
• Installation directory: Type or select the folder where the application files of Exact Globe+ are located.
• Install mode: Select the installation mode. For a network installation, select Internet network installation.
• Download demo company: Select this check box to download the files of a demo company during the installation.
• Download offline help files: Select this check box to download all the help files. These help files are available when you are offline.
8. Click Next to continue.
9. The system will determine how many files need to be installed.
10. Click Install to start the installation.
11. Once the installation is done, a notification will be displayed to let you know that the installation is completed successfully.
12. Click OK.
13. You need to make sure the installation folder can be accessed from the workstation. This can be done by sharing the folder on your network. Right click the folder and select "Share". A screen will be displayed whereby you can manage the access right for the domain users. Contact your system administrator for more information about these rights.
14. Now you can start with the installation on the workstations.
15. Log in as administrator on the workstation where you want to install Exact Globe+.
16. Open the Windows explorer and then open the location where you have installed Exact Globe+ on the server.
17. Start WSETUP.EXE.
18. Click Next to start the workstation installation with the default settings or click Advanced settings to change the installation settings.
19. In the advanced settings the following can be defined:
• Version: Select the version number that you want to install. The highest allowed product update or service pack that you can download will automatically be displayed.
• Installation directory: Type or select the folder where the application files of Exact Globe+ are located.
• Install mode: Select the installation mode. For a workstation installation, select LAN workstation installation.
• Download demo company: Select this check box to download the files of a demo company during the installation.
• Download offline help files: Select this check box to download all the help files. These help files are available when you are offline.
20. Click Next to continue.
21. The system will determine how many files need to be installed.
22. Click Install to start the installation.
23. Exact Globe+ is now installed.
24. If you have more workstations, you can repeat the steps on the other workstations.

1. Create a backup of your companies.
2. Check the release notes and system requirements of the product update that you want to install.
3. Start Exact Globe+.
4. Go to Settings ➔ System ➔ Update, and select Internet. If the menu path is unavailable, then you have a network installation.
5. Enter your login credentials:
• User name: Type the user name to log in to the customer portal.
• Password: Type the password that is used to log in to the customer portal.
6. Click Install.
7. Click Next to install the latest version or click Advanced settings to change the installation settings.
8. In the advanced settings the following can be defined:
• Version: Select the version number that you want to install. The highest allowed product update or service pack that you can download will automatically be displayed.
• Installation directory: Type or select the folder where the application files of Exact Globe+ are located.
• Install mode: Select the installation mode. For a standalone installation, select Internet workstation installation.
• Download demo company: Select this check box to download the files of a demo company during the installation.
• Download offline help files: Select this check box to download all the help files. These help files are available when you are offline.
9. Click Next to continue.
10. The system will determine how many files need to be installed.
11. Click Install to start the installation.
12. Once the installation is done, a notification is displayed asking you if you want to open Exact Globe+.

4. Click NETUPDATE.EXE.

9. Click Next to continue.
10. The system will determine how many files need to be installed.
11. Click Install to start the installation.
12. Once the installation on the server is done, you can start Exact Globe+ on the workstations. When starting Exact Globe+ on the workstations, these installations will automatically be updated to the new product update.
