What are the differences between using Exact products in Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Exact Private Cloud

Note: This document is only relevant to the controlled release participants.

Exact enabled and optimized Exact Globe, Exact Synergy Enterprise and Exact Lightweight Integration Server (ELIS) to run on Microsoft Azure or AWS or Exact Private Cloud. What are the differences between these options?

Explanation 

The differences between the different options are mainly based on the level of control by the customer and the service provided by the cloud provider. In all cases the components needed to run the Exact environment are the same. We differentiate 4 different scenarios:

On premise 
In this model the Exact products run in the office of the customer. All necessary components are managed by the customer or the IT partner. This includes the hardware , the virtual machines, the virtual network, etc

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) 
Both Microsoft Azure as AWS support the IaaS model. This model is comparable with the on premise model, the difference however is that in this model the hardware is managed by the cloud provider. The rest is managed by the customer.

Platform as a Service (PaaS) 
This model is offered by Microsoft Azure. In this model the hardware is managed by the customer and necessary functionality is provided as a service by Microsoft. So in this case Azure SQL is used, Azure Active Directory is used and Azure Web App is used. No virtual machines are used in this model. It is possible to have IaaS and PaaS components in one environment. 

Exact Private Cloud 
The Exact Private Cloud is managed by Parentix. This model uses the Software as a Service model. In this model the hardware, the windows machines, SQL Server, etc are all managed by Exact. Next to that, the Exact products are also managed by Exact. Updates of the software, backup\restore of databases, adding users to the system, etc is all managed by Exact.
