How can I check the version and edition of my MS SQL Server?
You can check this as follows:
- On the system where Microsoft SQL Server is installed: Go to Start ? All
Programs ? Microsoft SQL Server XXXX ? Microsoft SQL Server Management
Studio. From Windows 8: Press the Windows key and the Q key on your
keyboard. On the right at Search at the Apps field, type “SQL
Server Management Studio”. Next, click Microsoft SQL Server Management
Studio.
- Connect to the SQL Server.
- On the left the Object Explorer is displayed.
- Right click the SQL Server name and select Properties.

- At Product you can see which edition of Microsoft SQL Server is
used. In the example above this is the Express edition. At Version
