Single sign-on configuration guide for Synergy Office Integration (SOI)

Introduction

Note:

  • This document is only relevant to the controlled release participants.
  • This is not available for Exact Cloud customers.

Synergy Office Integration (SOI) allows for closer integration between Exact Synergy Enterprise and Microsoft Office. When you install SOI, you will be able to access Exact Synergy Enterprise using Microsoft Outlook. On top of that, you will be able to perform other functions such as saving and viewing documents, saving presentations, and spreadsheets directly and easily to Exact Synergy Enterprise.

In Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 256, the federated identity (previously referred to as single-sign on) with Windows Azure Active Directory and Auth0 via WS-Federation and OAuth was implemented. This document describes how you can use the federated identity for SOI.

How do I configure SOI with Auth0 (for product updates 261 and above)?

Note: The verification code is required to log in. Download the Authenticator application onto your phone.

  1. Open Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, or Microsoft PowerPoint. You will see the following screen:

  3. Click Next. The following screen will be displayed:

  5. Define the following fields:
    • Authentication Mode — Select Auth0 Authentication.
    • Authority — When Auth0 is used, the value at Authority is taken from the Auth0 account in the (accountname).auth0.com format.
    • ClientID — When Auth0 is used, the value at ClientID is the client ID from the application or client in the Auth0 portal.
  6. Click Next. The following screen will be displayed:

  8. Click the Log In tab to log in, or the Sign Up tab to sign up.
  9. If the Log In tab is clicked, type your email address at yours@example.com, and password at your password.
  10. Click LOG IN >. The following screen will be displayed:

  12. Click the Authenticator application on your phone.
  13. Type the verification code at Enter code.
  14. Click >.

How do I configure SOI with Auth0 (for product updates 260 and below)?

How do I configure SOI with WAAD (for product updates 261 and above)?

  1. Open Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, or Microsoft PowerPoint. You will see the following screen:
  2. Click Next. The following screen will be displayed:

  4. Define the following fields:
    • Authentication Mode — Select WAAD Authentication.
    • Authority — When WAAD is used, the value at Authority is taken from the Federation Metadata document URL in the WAAD portal.
    • ClientID — When WAAD is used, the value at ClientID is the client ID from the native application in the WAAD portal.
    • App ID URI — Type the web address of the application where you will get the ID.
  5. Click Next. The following screen will be displayed:

  7. Type your login information at Sign in.
  8. Click Next. The following screen will be displayed:

  10. Type your password at Enter password.
  11. Click Next. The following screen will be displayed:

  13. Open the Authenticator application on your phone.
  14. Type the code displayed in the Authenticator application at Code.
  15. Click Verify.

How do I configure SOI with WAAD (for product updates 260 and below)?

  1. Open Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, or Microsoft PowerPoint. You will see the following screen:
        
  2. Click Next. The following screen will be displayed:
        
  3. Define the following fields:
    • Web address — Type the web address of Exact Synergy Enterprise. For example, https://customers.exact.com
    • Authentication Mode — Select WAAD Authentication.
    • Username and Password — Use the WAAD credentials from the Exact Synergy Enterprise login.
    • Authority — When WAAD is used, the Authority is taken from the Federation Metadata document URL in the WAAD portal.
    • ClientID — When WAAD is used, the ClientID is the client ID from the native application in the WAAD portal.
  4. Click Next.
