Maintain: Settings (Multi-dimensions)
[Finance: File, Company settings, Dimensions]
Dimension 1 tab
Enabled
If this setting is enabled, you will be able to select this dimension when making multi-dimensional entry .
Description singular
Enter the description (naming) of this dimension in singular form. The description that you entered will replace the word "Dimension 1" .
Description plural
Enter the description (naming) of this dimension in plural form. For example, if the singular description is "Rayon", the plural description will be "Rayons".
Use reference table
Enable this setting if you want to select from only those selection options that you have entered in [Finance: Tables, Maintenance, Dimensions, *]. If you disable this setting, you can select other options when you enter data.
! It is advisable to enable this setting to ensure a consistent coding system of your dimensions.
Example
You have created a dimension "Countries". You're exporting your products to the United Kingdom, Belgium and Germany. You've created a code for each of these countries. You receive an incidental sales order for France. If the setting 'Use reference table' is disabled, you can enter a code for France while entering this sales order. If the setting 'Use reference table' is enabled, you have to enter the code first in [Finance: Tables, Maintenance, Dimensions, *] before you can enter the sales order.
The way of defining other dimensions is the same as mentioned above. You may repeat the same procedures to define dimensions on 'Dimension 2' tab until 'Dimension 5' tab.
