Comparing competency profile scores with norm values

Introduction
Based on the competency scores obtained by your employees, you can compare the scores with the defined norm values. Prior to using this comparison functionality, you should define the norm values. For more information, see Defining norm values by job groups, job activities, job titles, projects, and vacancies.
Note that only competences or performance indicators that are linked to field types Value, Number, Yes/No, and Combo box can be used for comparison.
Roles and rights
- To view competency profiles and use the comparison functionality, function right 505 — View payroll components is required. By default, users with the HR role have this function right. However, if you do not have the rights but are reviewer for the employee, you can also view the active competency profile of the personal and use the comparison functionality.
- If you do not have any of the roles, you can view your own competency profile and compare the competency profile scores with the norm values if the Review: View profiles check box is selected under the Competency section in the HRM corporate settings. For more information, see Defining HRM general settings.
- To maintain competency profiles, function right 508 — Maintain payroll components is required. By default, users with the HR role have this function right.

What version are you using?
The information in this document is applicable to product update 258 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features explained here will not be applicable.
How do I compare competency profile scores with norm values?
- Define the relevant criteria, and then click Show.
- Click the name of the employee under the Name column, and then click the hyperlink at Competence profiles. Depending on the scenarios, you may be directed to different screens, as described in the following:
- If you are the reviewer of the active profile or have the HR role, you will see the active profile. Click Compare.
- If you are the reviewer of the active profile or have the HR role, you will see the active profile. Click Compare.
- If you are not the reviewer of the active profile, but a reviewer of other profiles for this employee, you will see the profiles listing. Click
in the Review column for the profile which you are the reviewer, and then click Compare.
- If you are not the reviewer of any profile and if the HRM corporate settings have been defined to allow you to view your own competency profiles as described in the Roles
and rights section, you will see the active profile if the status of the active profile is equals to Final. Click Compare.
- If the employee does not have an active profile, you will see the profiles listing. Click
in the Review column for the profile which you are the reviewer, and then click Compare.
Buttons
Close
Click this to exit.
Edit
Click this to rate the competences of the employees.
Note: You can only give ratings to the employees if you are the reviewer of the profile. This is not available if the status of the profile is Completed. For more information, see Reviewing and calculating competency profiles of applicants and employees.
Reopen
Click this to reopen the competency profile and modify the ratings given.
Note: This is available only when the competency review has been completed and if you are the reviewer of the profile.
Review
Click this to return to the view mode of the profile screen. For more information, see Viewing competency profiles of employees.
Profiles
Click this to view the competency profiles listing of the employee. For more information, see Viewing competency profiles listing.
Match
Click this to begin the process of matching the employee to the most suitable vacancies. For more information, see Shortlisting vacancies for applicant via matching wizard.
Note: This is available if you have Function right 508 — Maintain payroll components, the employee has a competency profile created which is linked to one competence or more, and the employee has applied to one vacancy or more in the organization, thus, is an internal applicant. Otherwise, this button is not available.
Fields
Compare with: Norm value section
From
Select Job group, Job activity, Job title, Person, Project, or Vacancy and also the corresponding job group, job activity, job title, employee, project, or vacancy in the box next to it to compare the competency scores with the norm values of the profile linked to the selected job group, job activity, job title, employee, project, or vacancy.
Note: By default, Job title will be selected at From and the job title of the profile’s employee will be displayed in the box next to it if an active profile is present in the employee's job title.
Profile
Select the profile which is linked to the corresponding job title, job activity, job title, employee, project, or vacancy as defined at From to compare the competency scores with the norm values in this profile.
Note: By default, the profile with the latest start date before or equal to the current date, which is linked to the job title of the employee will be displayed.
Compare
Click this to compare the competency scores with the norm values based on the defined criteria.
General section
Person
This displays the name of the employee which the competency profile belongs to. Click the hyperlink to view the personal card of this employee. The number of years and months displayed in the brackets indicate the employment period of the employee.
Job title, Level
This displays the job title and the level of the employee.
Manager
This displays the manager of the employee which the competency profile belongs to. Click the hyperlink to view the personal card of the manager.
Profile section
Reference date
This displays the date the profile is created. This date is defined in the Profile: Start date field when generating the competency profile at Modules ? HRM ? Setup ? Competency management ? Generate competence profile or in the Start date field if you are generating the competency profile at the personal card. Click the hyperlink to view and maintain the competency profile. For more information, see Maintaining competency profiles.
Reviewed by
This displays the name of the reviewer. Click the hyperlink to view the personal card of the reviewer.
Status
This displays the status of the profile.
Rating
The rating for the employee will be displayed when the competency review has been completed.
Remarks
This displays the additional notes about the competency review.
Competency section
This section displays the listing of competences that will be rated for the employee, the weight, and scores for each competence. Only competences that are linked to field types with type defined as Value will be taken into account when the final rating is calculated.
Before you click
Compare to compare the competency scores with the norm values based on the defined criteria, this section will display the weight of each competence in the competency profile under the Weight column, while the Score column displays the scores for each competence. Mouse over
to view additional notes about each competence.
Once you have clicked
Compare, you will see an additional Norm value column which displays the norm value for each competence in the profile selected at the Compare with: Norm value section. With this column, you can compare the competency scores with the norm values you have previously defined. Under the Score column, the score for each competence will be displayed, followed by indicators of
,
, or
which means the actual score is below, above, or equal to the norm value of the competences.
