How-to: Installation Prerequisites for Synergy Office Integration Configuration Wizard


Once you have installed SOI, you will have to complete the configuration wizard steps before SOI can be used. This document lists down the prerequisites needed to complete the configuration.


During the configuration process, if any of the prerequisite is not met, an example of the following screen will be displayed:


Document structure

The mode of the document structure can be defined in the Document structure section at Documents/Setup/Maintenance/Settings. For more information, see Setting Up Documents.


Synergy Office Add-in

It is recommended not to have the older version of Office Add-in installed in the same computer. If you have the older version installed, you can remove the installation in the Office Add-In section at System/Setup/Other/Installation: Microsoft office Add in.


Internet Explorer setting

The web address of the Exact Synergy Enterprise software that you filled in has to be added to the trusted site zone. The following steps explain how you can add the web address to the trusted site zone.

1. Open the web browser.

2. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.

3. Next, click the Security tab.

4. Select Trusted sites as shown in the following image:


5. Click Sites. You will see the following screen:


6. Fill in the web address, and then click Add. The web address will then be added to the trusted site zone.

7. Finally, click Close.


Login method

Synergy Office Integration does not support the Form authentication login method. If you are using this login method, you need to change it to the Integrated Windows authentication or Basic authentication method or create a new virtual directory that uses one of these two methods. An example of how the login method is changed using Windows 7 is explained below.

To change the login method using Windows 7:

1. Click the Microsoft Windows Start button, and then click Control Panel.

2. If you are viewing Control Panel by Category, click Network and Internet. You will see the following screen:


3. On the left menu, click System and Security, and then click Administrative Tools.

4. Next, click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

5. Select the website on the left panel, and then double click Authentication in the IIS section. You will see the following screen:


6. Right click on Basic Authentication or Windows Authentication, and then click Enable.

Note: If you have changed from Forms authentication to Basic Authentication or Windows Authentication, ensure that the correct web.config file (located in the Exact Synergy Enterprise installation folder) is used.
