System Manual C/S - Defining report layouts

Defining report layouts

In Exact Financials C/Sthere are some reports available which use a flexible layout system. These report layouts can be created in [Management, Application, Layout maintenance, Report layouts]. In this description only the creation of a layout for 'Balances' is described. Other report layouts are created in a similar way.

Layout type

Since this chapter is about financial statements, you should select 'Balance' here.

Layout

If you are creating a new layout, enter a unique name for this layout. If you want to change an existing layout, select the layout using the magnifying glass.

Columns

In this box, there is a list of fields (small characters) and formulas (in capitals) available for the layout. A set of useful fields is preinstalled. You need to create the formulas yourself. This can be done in [Management, Application, Layout maintenance, Formulas].

Columns on report

In this column you see the fields or formulas that will be used on the layout. Fields or formulas can be added to the layout, using the '+>>' button. To remove fields or formulas from the layout, the '<<-' button can be used.

The order in which the fields and formulas are stated in this box is the order of the columns on the layout. By selecting a field or formula the order can be changed using the 'Up' or 'Down' button.

In 'Column width' you can define the width of the column. In 'Current report width', the total width of all column defined for the layout is displayed. 'Current number of columns' states the total number of columns defined for the layout. The figures can be compared to the 'Maximum width portrait' and the 'Maximum width landscape', to know whether the layout will be printed landscape or portrait. In 'Maximum number of columns' the maximum number of columns for the layout is stated.

Number of columns locked

In this field you can enter how many columns you want to be locked. This means that these columns will not move when you scroll through the report.

Column width

In this field you can indicate how wide the column can be in the report.

Example

The column width is 5.

If a word appears in the column that is longer than five characters, the first five characters will be shown.

If a number should appear that is longer than five characters, the following will appear: '>>>>>'. If it is a negative number '<<<<<' will appear.

'Copy' button

The button can be used to copy the layout.

'Remove' button

The button can be used to remove the layout.
