Running Exact Synergy Enterprise for the First Time
Introduction
After Exact Synergy Enterprise has been installed and updated, there are additional steps that are required before it can be used.
Assumptions
It is assumed that the following have been installed:
- Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.0.
- Microsoft SQL Server.
- Only one version of Exact Synergy Enterprise.
Creating a new database
When you start Exact Synergy Enterprise after a new installation, you will be required to link a license file to it before creating a new database.

Opening an existing database
Database section
DBMS
Select the DBMS (Database Management System) that was used in creating the database.
Server
Type the name of the database server that the database will be restored to. This is mandatory.
Database
Type a name for the database that will be restored. This is mandatory.
License section
File (.elcx)
This displays the license file you have selected to create the new database.
Login section
Integrated security
Select this check box to use the user account of the person restoring the database to connect to the SQL server when logging in to the database.
Login name
Type the login name to log in to the database.
Password
Type the login password to log in to the database.
