How-to: Using the repair tool for Exact Lightweight Integration Server (ELIS)

Introduction

The repair tool in Exact Lightweight Integration Server (ELIS) assists administrators to fix the connection between ELIS and the client. If ELIS has been set up correctly on a machine but the machine name is later changed, the communication between the client product and ELIS will no longer exist. In addition, you will not be able to change the URL for ELIS. In this matter, the repair tool can resolve the issue.

Scope

This document describes the following:

  • Restoring the client and activating the data in the client database based on the records in ELIS.
  • Resetting the redundant ELIS data in the client product database.

Prerequisites

  • ELIS management console
  • A valid client product that has a broken linkage in ELIS

Repair functionality

The repair functionality restores ELIS and the activation of the endpoint client whereby the repair functionality will re-insert ELIS and activate the endpoint client database.

Define the following fields:

  • ELIS server - Type the server name for ELIS. If ELIS is configured for the federated identity authentication, the ELIS server field cannot be edited, and the field will be automatically defined based on the ELIS server name.
  • Refresh - Click this to retrieve and refresh the list at Client server upon defining the server name for ELIS.
  • Client server - Select the client server to be repaired.
  • ELIS Username - If ELIS is configured for the Windows authentication, the field cannot be edited. However, if ELIS is configured for the federated identity authentication, you will have to define your FID username.
  • ELIS Password - If ELIS is configured for the Windows authentication, the field cannot be edited. However, if ELIS is configured for the federated identity authentication, you will have to define your FID password.
  • Client information - When a client server has been selected at Client server, the information of the client server such as the release number, product type, and URL will be displayed.
  • Repair - Click this to start the repair process.

The following message will be displayed if the repair process is successful:

After the repair process has completed, verify the result by checking the client endpoint database. If the client endpoint is restored correctly, the client endpoint will be available in the IntegrationServers table and the activation data in the ClientFiles table (if any).

Reconnect the client endpoint from the ELIS management console. The following result should be displayed:

Reset functionality

The reset functionality resets ELIS from the client endpoint. This will remove the selected ELIS and the activation in the client endpoint database.

Define the following fields:

  • Database server - Type the database server name for the client endpoint.
  • SQL Authentication - Select this check box to connect to the database server via the SQL authentication.
  • Username - Type the SQL login username. This field will be enabled if the SQL Authentication check box is selected.
  • Password - Type the SQL login password. This field will be enabled if the SQL Authentication check box is selected.
  • Refresh - Click this to retrieve the database name and refresh the list at Database name.
  • Database name - Select the client endpoint database name. The tool will only display the database(s) that belongs to Exact Synergy Enterprise or Exact Globe Next.
  • Registered ELIS server - Select a registered server used for ELIS (the data is retrieved from the IntegrationServers table in the database).
  • Reset - Click this to start the reset process.

The following message will be displayed once Reset in the ELIS Repair Tool screen is clicked:

Click Yes. The following message will be displayed if the client endpoint has been reset successfully:

Click OK. Verify the result by checking the client endpoint database. If ELIS has reset successfully, the data will not be available in the IntegrationServers table in the database and the activation will not be available in the ClientFiles table (if any) in the database.
