This document describes the basic process and functionality behind the Exact Exchange Migration tool. This tool is only intended for administrative or support usage and is specific for the Microsoft Exchange 2010 integration solution.
Topics in this document include:
The prerequisite for this process is to have the Exact Exchange Synchronizer installed and configured correctly. For more information, see How-to: Installing Exact Exchange Synchronizer (Exchange 2010).

When the ‘Exact Exchange Synchronization Puller Monitor’ service starts, the service will attempt to ensure that the Exact Synergy Enterprise and Exchange 2010 environment is synchronized. It does this by the use of an Exchange 2010 feature known as the ‘SyncFolder’ process. This is done for every user that has been subscribed for synchronization.
A user may possibly have appointments within the Exchange server that spans back to previous years. This depends on the administration done on the Exchange server and likely to be specific to users’ or customers’ environment or policies.
Once the ‘SyncFolder’ process is completed for the user, a ‘bookmark’ is saved into the Exact Synergy Enterprise’s user settings. For subsequent synchronization processes, the ‘SyncFolder’ process will resume from that ‘bookmark’.
In an environment where the ‘SyncFolder’ has not been started before, this may potentially create:
1. High network traffic due to the amount of appointments that needs to be synchronized.
2. Exact Synergy Enterprise requests for past appointments, which should be ignored.
The tool does the following:
1. Initiates the ‘SyncFolder’ process for the user, which does the following:
o Without end dates, these are synchronized over to Exact Synergy Enterprise.
o With end Dates, should the start date of the last occurrence be after the current date, the recurring appointment is then synchronized over to Exact Synergy Enterprise. Recurring appointments with start dates prior to the current date are ignored.
2. Saves the ‘bookmark’ for the migrated user into Exact Synergy Enterprise’s user settings. This ensures that when the ‘Syncfolder’ process starts via the service installed, the process will resume from that ‘bookmark’.
1. After the solution has been installed, start ‘Exact.Exchange.Migration.Tool.exe’ from the ‘BIN’ subfolder of either Exact Synergy Enterprise or the Exchange Integrator folder. The tool will read Exact Synergy Enterprise and Exchange 2010 server configurations from the ‘XMD\Exact.MacroManager.Exchange.Config’, hence it does not require you to key in the connection details. See the following screen for an example:
2. At the Exchange user section, fill in the Exchange user credentials, which will be used for the migration process. Typically, this should be either the administrator or the fixed user account (created prior to the installation of the solution).
3. At the ESE User section, fill in the ID of the Exact Synergy Enterprise user, which will be migrated. At this moment, the tool only supports migration per user.
4. Click Go to start the process.
