WMS & Bartender - when duplicate SSCC or box numbers are used in your warehouse
WMS documentation
Problem
You are using Bartender to print labels, and you notice that the duplicate SSCC
(pallet)- or box numbers are used within your warehouse
Description
First, please note that Bartender is not an Exact product. Please refer to
Seagull Scientific
for support on Bartender software.
Bartender can be used to automatically print labels in several steps of E-WMS
processes.
One of these applications can be printing SSCC labels or box labels with
unique sequence numbers.
Bartender can be configured to generate unique numbers for each label printed
(Bartender 'serialization').
These generated numbers are stored within the label itself, making it necessary
that the label is saved after each print (of one or more labels), to save the
last used sequence number.
If you encounter the problem that the same sequence numbers are printed
for the same or different label lay-outs, like duplicate SSCC or box numbers, please
check if one of following conditions applies to your situation:
- when using WMS integrated labels, please check if the option 'Save' is
enabled in Exact Globe menu
System, E-WMS, Labels, for that specific label.
- when printing the label through a specific
label shortcut, please check if that shortcut also has the Bartender
parameter /S or /XS ("save")
- when printing the label manually from Bartender, make sure you save the
label after printing
- if you make a copy of a Bartender label to create a new
label lay-out, make sure you also start with a new sequence range in that
new label. Otherwise both the old and new label will print the same
sequence.
- if you restore a back-up of Bartender labels, you will also restore the
sequence number last used in those back-up files
- Bartender has an option to print multiple identical copies of the same
label, so with the same sequence number (which is required if you apply the
same label on both ends of a pallet)
- when using E-WMS 'Generated multi-layer SSCC' SSCC labels, to print
labels from the hand terminal while you are picking orders, then E-WMS
sequence numbers are used.
The used sequence numbers are configured in Exact Globe menu System,
General, Settings, E-WMS SSCC. It is unlikely that double sequence
numbers would be printed from this process,
unless you would restore an Exact Globe database back-up.
- when using E-WMS SKU Management to print labels directly from the hand
terminal (SKU button), then also E-WMS sequence numbers are used.
The used sequence numbers are configured in Exact Globe menu System,
General, Settings, SKU. It is unlikely that double sequence numbers
would be printed from this process,
unless you would restore an Exact Globe database back-up.
