Measurement calculations allows you to quickly and easily
compile calculations (formulas) and link them to your products or change
existing calculations. These calculations relate to items with variable properties,
such as wood, steel, or glass products. After you have linked the formulas to your
items, you can define properties using an adjusted calculation during the entry
of sales and purchase orders, sales and purchase invoices, and receipts. The
names of the properties that you have specified when applying the measurement
calculations are used as standard.
The information in this document is applicable to product
update 418 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features
explained here will not be applicable.
Formula
Assign a code to the formula. This is a unique value and therefore cannot be
used again. If you have assigned the wrong code or want to assign another one,
you will have to delete the entire formula.
Description
Type a description for the measurement calculation formula.
Basics tab
In this tab, you can define six properties per formula.
Make sure that the number on the first line is always used
for calculation lines. This is to ensure that partial receipts or deliveries
are calculated correctly. For example, if you want to include the length,
width, and number in the formula, it is important that the number is used on
the first line, while width and length are on the following lines.
Label
Define how the fields are displayed in the entry screen. For
example, a label can be “Length” or “Width”.
Changeable
Select this check box to indicate if the property is
constant or variable. If this check box is selected, the user can edit the
value during entry. A field that cannot be edited by the user is always filled
with the value from the Value field.
Type
Select the type of the entry field. There are two types of
fields: Numerical and Database field. When
Numerical is
selected, the user can define a numeric value at the value field. When Database
field is selected, a database field from the item file can be selected at the
value field.
Value
Define a value at this field. The value that you define here
is used as the default value when entering the logistics transactions. Depending
on the type, a numerical value can be defined at this field or a database field
can be selected. When a database field is chosen, a number of values can be
selected. These values refer to the fields that you can define for item
maintenance. In this way, standard values for the length of a shelf, for
example, can be maintained for the items.

Rounding
Select a rounding option. The rounding can be defined per entry
field. The result of each calculation line can be rounded up, down, or not
rounded. Select from the following options:
-
Normal: This option rounds the value according to
standard rules. For example, with a rounding to “1.000”, the values “0.001” to “0.499”
are rounded to “0.000”, and the values “0.500” to “0.999” are rounded to “1.000”.
-
Up: This option rounds the value upward depending
on the value defined at the Round off to field.
-
Down: This option rounds the value downward
depending on the value defined at the Round off to field.
Note:
If rounding is not required, select the
standard
Normal option and define “0.001” at the
Round off to
field.
Round off to
Define the number to be rounded to. This is always to whole
numbers.
Note: If rounding is not required, select the
standard Normal option and define “0.001” at the Round off to
field.
Operator
Define whether the field is to be added to (+), subtracted from
(-), divided by (/), or multiplied (*) by the value from the following line. If
this line is the last line in the formula, the field is left blank.
In addition to the formula, you can define a number of free
entry fields. These input fields will be displayed at the same time as the measurement
calculation and can be used to record extra information. Only if a name has
been defined for the free fields during the maintenance of the measurement
calculation will these be shown during the entry.
Rounding
Define how the result of the formula is rounded. The result
can be rounded up, down, or not rounded.
Rounded off to
Define which number the result must be rounded off to. This
is always to whole numbers.
Extra 1
Type a name for the text field. This field allows you to
enter additional information when using the formula that will be printed later
on the delivery note or invoice.

2
Type a name for the text field. This field allows you to enter additional
information when using the formula that will be printed later on the delivery
note or invoice.
Extra 3
Type a name for the text field. This field allows you to
enter additional information when using the formula that will be printed later
on the delivery note or invoice.
Extra Date
Type a name for the date field. This field allows you to
enter a date when using the formula as additional information that will be
printed later on the delivery note or invoice.
Extra No/Yes
Type a name for the check box (No/Yes field). You can
select or clear this check box when using the formula as additional information
that will be printed later on the delivery note or invoice.
Extra No/Yes
Type a name for the check box (No/Yes field). You can
select or clear this check box when using the formula as additional information
that will be printed later on the delivery note or invoice.
Link tab
This tab displays an overview of the items to which this
formula is linked.
New
Click this to link items to this formula. It is possible to
link a measurement calculation to more than one item. You can link multiple
lines to an item. When maintaining
the measurement calculation data of the items, you can indicate which measurement
calculation is the standard calculation for the item. By linking a calculation
line to an item, this number line will be displayed when entering a number for
that item in an order or invoice. Before you can apply the measurement
calculation to the entry, you must specify the category of transaction for
which the calculation applies when maintaining the measurement calculation data
of the items.

calculation.
