Creating and maintaining general journal entries

Introduction

The general journal allows you to enter an opening balance or financial transactions, as well as modify incorrect entries.

What version are you using?

The information in this document is applicable to product update 502 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features explained here will not be applicable.

How do I create a general journal entry?

  1. In the Finance > Entries > General journal screen, click New.
  2. Fill in the fields.
  3. Click Close to save.

How do I edit a purchase journal entry?

  1. In the Finance > Entries > General journal screen, define the search criteria.
  2. Click Refresh.
  3. Select a journal.
  4. Click Zoom.
  5. Select a journal entry.
  6. Click Open.
  7. Click Edit.
  8. Edit the journal entry details.
  9. Click Close to save.

How do I reverse the entry lines?

  1. In the Finance > Entries > General journal screen, define the search criteria.
  2. Click Refresh.
  3. Select a journal.
  4. Click Zoom.
  5. Select a journal entry.
  6. Click Open.
  7. Click Reverse.

How do I create a creditor?

  1. In the Finance > Entries > General journal screen, click New.
  2. Click New creditor.
  3. Define the fields.
  4. Click Save. For more information on creating creditors, see Creating and maintaining accounts payable.

How do I create a debtor?

  1. In the Finance > Entries > General journal screen, click New.
  2. Click New debtor.
  3. Define the fields.
  4. Click Save. For more information on creating debtors, see Creating and maintaining accounts receivable.

How do I view the general ledger account maintenance screen?

  1. In the Finance > Entries > General journal screen, define the search criteria.
  2. Click Refresh.
  3. Select a journal.
  4. Click Zoom.
  5. Select a journal entry.
  6. Click Open.
  7. Click on a general ledger account in the G/L column.
  8. Click Maintain.

How do I view your ref. screen?

  1. In the Finance > Entries > General journal screen, define the search criteria.
  2. Click Refresh.
  3. Select a journal.
  4. Click Zoom.
  5. Select a journal entry.
  6. Click Open.
  7. Click Edit.
  8. Click Your ref.

How do I view the transactions screen?

  1. In the Finance > Entries > General journal screen, define the search criteria.
  2. Click Refresh.
  3. Select a journal.
  4. Click Zoom.
  5. Select a journal entry.
  6. Click Open.
  7. Click Edit.
  8. Click Our ref.

How do I view the general ledger card screen?

  1. In the Finance > Entries > General journal screen, define the search criteria.
  2. Click Refresh.
  3. Select a journal.
  4. Click Zoom.
  5. Select a journal entry.
  6. Click Open.
  7. Click on a general ledger account in the G/L column.
  8. Click Card.

How do I view the payment conditions screen?

  1. In the Finance > Entries > General journal screen, define the search criteria.
  2. Click Refresh.
  3. Select a journal.
  4. Click Zoom.
  5. Select a journal entry.
  6. Click Open.
  7. Click Edit.
  8. Click on a general ledger account in the G/L column.
  9. Click Terms.

How do I view the recurring entries screen?

  1. In the Finance > Entries > General journal screen, define the search criteria.
  2. Click Refresh.
  3. Select a journal.
  4. Click Zoom.
  5. Select a journal entry.
  6. Click Open.
  7. Click Recurring.
