Introduction
In a fast and complex manufacturing environment, a lot of different items are moved around during manufacturing, such as from the point the item is purchased until the shipping of the item. This makes traceability of items important. For example, when a purchased item that is used for production causes some unexpected problems, the manufacturer will have to track the supplier of the item. If the finished product that was sold to a customer has been returned or rejected, the manufacturer would want to trace the source of the item from the production order that used the raw materials.
What version are you using?
The information in this document is based on product update 404 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain
features explained here will not be applicable.
How do I view the serial or batch trace overview?
- In the Inventory / Serial/batch / Serial/batch trace screen, define the search criteria.
- Click Display.
Fields
Selection section
Show
Select the type of traceability to be displayed. Select any of the following:
- Source — Select this option to trace the serial or batch item as a backward tracing method (where the item was sourced from). This is to trace the serial or batch item from the sales order, internal use, or production order to purchase order.
- Where-used — Select this option to trace the serial or batch item as a forward tracing method (where the item was used). This is to trace the serial or batch item from the purchase order (source) to sales order, internal use, or production order (where-used).
Debtor
Type or select a debtor to view the traceability overview of the debtor.
Note: This field is available only if Source is selected at Show.
Creditor
Type or select a creditor to view the traceability overview of the creditor.
Note: This field is available only if Where-used is selected at Show.
Item code
Type or select the item code to view the traceability overview of the item.
Level
Type the desired level of traceability to be displayed in the report.
Note: A maximum of four digits is accepted at this field. If this is left blank, tracing will be done to the lowest level. The report will collapse records of level 5 and lower. This can be expanded, if required.
Serial/batch number
Type or select the serial or batch number to view the traceability overview of the item with the serial or batch number.
Date
Type or select the date or date range to view the traceability overview of the item for the date range. Select the All check box to view the traceability overview with any date.
Buttons
Display
Click this to display the traceability overview based on the search criteria.
Close
Click this to exit.
