You can quickly replace a part, such as an item or hour item, across all bills of material (BOMs) with a different part. You can access this function from Manufacturing ➔ Planning ➔ Replace. You can also access this function by clicking Replace in the item maintenance (go to Manufacturing ➔ Setup ➔ Items, select the relevant item, and click Open under the Manufacturing tab in the Where-used section). Select the part to replace and the replacement part. You can also set the replacement factor such as replacing one unit of a part with two units of the replacement part. Furthermore, you can define the range of BOMs for assembled items that will be affected by the replacement.
Type or select the code of the item or hour item that you want to replace across the BOMs. The description of the selected item is displayed next to the field.
Type or select the code of the item or hour item to replace the item or hour item you have selected in the Item code field.
Note: If this field is empty, all the BOM items of the item selected at Item code will be deleted once you click Replace.
Type the part replacement factor. For example, the BOM currently requires one unit of the current part but will need two units of the replacement part. In this case, the replacement factor is "2.00".
Note: This field is enabled only if the Replacement field is not empty.
Type or select an item group or a range of item groups that will be affected by the part replacement. This setting filters the BOMs of assembled items to only those belonging to the selected item group(s). You can select the All check box to include BOMs of assembled items in all item groups.
Type or select the code of an assembled item or a range of assembled items that will be affected by the part replacement. This setting filters the BOM of assembled item(s) that will be affected by the part replacement. You can select the All check box to include BOMs of all assembled items.
Click this to show the list of BOMs of assembled items based on the defined criteria. This button performs the same function as the Replace button. For more information, see Selecting bill of material for item replacement.
Click this to show the list of BOMs of assembled items based on the defined criteria. This button performs the same function as the Show list button. For more information, see Selecting bill of material for item replacement.
