Adding and Modifying Partners for Opportunities

You may be working with one or more partners to clinch a deal from an opportunity. Partners have different roles in different opportunities and at different stages in the sales cycle process. Some partners may have the role of advisors, knowledge provider, lead generator, and some have a share in the revenue from a successful deal.

To create new partners for the opportunity card, click Add in the Partners section of the opportunity card. After you click Add in the Partners section in the opportunity card, you will see the Account screen. You will see a list of accounts that are available in the system. Select an account or create a new account. You will see the Opportunity: Add – Partner screen. Select a contact person from the partner organization and the role of the partner within this opportunity. Then, click Save to save the partner information to the opportunity card.

To modify the partner information, click All in the Partners section of the opportunity card. You will see a list of partners for your opportunity card. Click Edit for the relevant partner. After making the necessary changes, click Save to exit.

To add partners for the opportunity card, go to Customers/Report/Opportunity management/Search, define the relevant criteria, and click Show. Then click the opportunity code in the Opportunity: Code column. In the opportunity card, click Add in the Partners section. Alternatively, you can click All in the Partners section, and then click New.

To modify partners for the opportunity card, go to Customers/Report/Opportunity management/Search, define the relevant criteria, and click Show. Then click the opportunity code in the Opportunity: Code column. In the opportunity card, click All in the Competition section and then click Edit for the relevant partner.

Roles & rights

Users with the following security rights are allowed to add or edit the partners for opportunities. For more information, see Security of the Opportunity.

  • The user is the creator of the opportunity.
  • The user is the owner of the opportunity.
  • The user is the manager of the opportunity owner. The user is currently involved in the request which is part of the sales cycle process for the opportunity. This also includes employees which are included in the request through the Assume, Assign, and Remark functions. For more information, see Creating and Modifying Requests.

For more details on what you can do with function rights or levels, go to System/Setup/Security/Function rights, select the required module, and then click on the relevant ID. To find out the functions you can perform with a particular role, go to System/Setup/Security/Roles, type in the description, click Refresh, and then click the required link under the Role column.

Save

Click this to save the partner information.

Save + New

Click this to save the partner information and create a new partner.

Delete

Click this to delete the partner. You will see a message "Confirm: Delete?" Click OK to delete or Cancel to cancel the deletion.

Note: This button is available only if you are modifying an existing partner.

Close

Click this to exit.

Description

Partner

Type or select an account code as the partner for the opportunity. You can add a partner if the account is available in the system.

Note: If you are modifying the partner information, this information cannot be edited. You can only click the account code and name to view the account information.

Contact

Select a contact person from the partner organization. You can add a contact person only if the contact is available in the Contacts section of the account linked to the opportunity.

Partner role

Select a role for the partner. The available roles for partners are pre-defined by the user. For more information, see Overview of Contact and Partner Roles for Opportunities.
