Introduction
This document describes the hand terminal settings for E-WMS
Production Receipts, in menu System, E-WMS, Scanners,
Production receipt settings.
Description
Once scanner settings are defined, these need to
be assigned to each device in menu System, E-WMS,
Scanners, Scanners. You can use one general settings profile for all
devices, or you can set up specific profiles per individual device. Please also read document
General notes on scanner settings.
After selecting menu System,
E-WMS, Scanners, Production receipt settings you can create a new
profile by pressing New, or edit an existing profile by using Open. You can only
delete profiles which are not linked to devices.
Name
Unique code referring to this settings profile (12
characters).
Description
Description of this settings profile (60
characters).
You can jump directly to a specific section of settings:
Section: General
Screen layout
ASP and WMSclient only, available from 404. Please read
this section for more information on 'screen layout'.
Focus to
ASP only. Determines to what field you will return after a receipt line has been
scanned. You have following choices:
- Item code: returns focus to 'item code'.
The receipt transaction is not completed yet. When 'item code' was prefilled
and skipped, you will continue to the next field.
When scanning serial/batch items, the focus always first returns to input of
the 'S/B number' after completing a scan. When pressing the STOP button on
input of the S/B number, then this setting is applied.
- Location: returns focus to 'location'. The
receipt transaction is not completed yet. When 'location' was prefilled and
skipped, you will continue to the next field.
When scanning serial/batch items, the focus always first returns to input of
the 'S/B number' after completing a scan. When pressing the STOP button on
input of the S/B number, then this setting is applied.
- Production order
(available from 406): returns focus to 'production order', which
means the current transaction is always completed after the scan. The screen
will be cleared and you can scan a production order again.
If you scan production receipts per pallet, and you need a pallet label which
is printed after reading back and processing the receipt, then focus to
'production order' may be an efficient choice. After each receipt, that receipt
line is automatically completed (without having to press STOP on the scanner)
and will be read back by the WMS RF service, allowing for automatic processing
and label printing.
Prefill item code
ASP only, available from 406. This setting has following options:
- Empty: the item code is not prefilled when
scanning a production receipt.
- Advice: the item code is prefilled with the
planned item code, from the production order receipt line, and can still be
changed on the scanner.
- Advice + skip: the item code is prefilled
as with 'advice' and also skipped, which means the item code cannot be
changed on the scanner.
S/B number generation
ASP only, available from 404. When this setting is enabled, you can generate
new serial/batch numbers and print barcode labels from the hand terminal.
When enabled, the 'S/B' button is available on the scanner. When disabled, the
'S/B' button is not available on the scanner.

Note: S/B number generation cannot be used together with the lot number functionality.
Prefill: S/B
For E-WMS
ASP only, available from 406. This setting allows you to prefill the
serial/batch number when receiving serial/batch items, either as generated by
E-WMS - Serial/batch generation (from 406), or as planned in the production
order (from
407). This setting has following options:
- Empty: the serial/batch number is not
prefilled
- Advice:
- when the hand terminal setting 'S/B number generation' is enabled: the serial/batch number is
prefilled according to the serial/batch generation number mask, and can be
changed by the scanner operator
- when the hand terminal setting 'S/B number generation' is disabled: the
serial/batch number as planned in the pro
- Advice + skip
- applies the same logic as 'Advice', only the scanner operator cannot
change the prefilled number for batch items
- for serial items, input of a 'serial number' cannot be skipped, since
this field is the last field in the scan flow, and therefore always has to
be confirmed.
Auto. SKU label screen
ASP and SKU Management only. This setting determines if the SKU label print
screen should appear automatically when no labels have been printed yet for the
current order and SKU item. When enabled, the SKU label print screen will appear
automatically when labels are still required. When disabled, the label print
screen will never show automatically, you will have to press the OPTIONS + SKU
button on the hand terminal.
Use external SKU nrs
ASP and SKU Management,
available since 405. When enabled, external SKU numbers are accepted, you are not printing SKU labels from
the hand terminal. When disabled, you are generating SKU numbers and printing SKU labels from the hand
terminal during the receipt.
Show stock button
ASP only. Determines whether the hand terminal user
is allowed to view
item stock on the hand terminal. Before release 406, this setting was named
'RF: browse stock'.
Section: Bar code
Scanning combination
ASP and CAB. Please read
this document for more details on 'scanning combination' and 'dividing

Dividing character
ASP and CAB. Please read

character'.
Use EAN128
ASP and CAB. When enabled,
EAN128 decoding will be started for
any scanned value. Please disable this setting when you do not use EAN128 bar codes.

Focus to next field
ASP only.
Please read
this document for more information on this setting. This setting is
available in this screen from release
409, in earlier releases this was a
general
scanner setting.
Show barcode summary
Available from product update 404 (ASP and for
WMS client only). When enabled, a summary screen will show (in which you
have to press Enter or OK) after a scan, when otherwise you would have moved to
the next transaction screen immediately. This way you still have a
confirmation of what you scanned, before the next scan screen is shown. Typically,
this will be the case when you have disabled the setting 'Focus
to next field' and scanning a SKU number, or an EAN128 or HIBC bar code.

Section: warehouse
Default value
You can configure a default warehouse for production receipts, and use it in
combination with the setting 'Display which value'.
Display which value?
This setting determines if and how the 'warehouse' field on the scanner will be
prefilled. The setting offers following choices:
- Default value: prefills 'warehouse' with
the value configured in setting 'Default value', and allows to change this
on the scanner
- Never: prefills 'warehouse' with the value
configured in setting 'Default value', and also skips input; so changing the
warehouse is not possible
- Empty: never prefills a value, the
warehouse code always has to be scanned or entered
- Advice (available since 406): prefills
'warehouse' with the warehouse code as planned in the production order
receipt line
- Advice + skip (available since 406):
prefills 'warehouse' with the warehouse code as planned in the production
order receipt line, and skips input - the warehouse cannot be changed.
The choices 'Default value', 'Never' and 'Empty' are applied in ASP and CAB,
'Advice' and 'Advice + skip' are only available in ASP.
Section: Location
Default value
You can define a default location for production receipts. Since you could use
any warehouse for thee receipts,
there is no validation of the entered location in this screen.
To apply a default receipt location, the setting 'Location/Display which value'
will have to be configured to 'Default value' or to 'Never'.
Display which value?
Determines how to prefill the 'location' field in
the receipts process, with following options:
- Default value: prefills the
'default value' and you are still able to change and scan the location on
the hand terminal (ASP and CAB)
- Never: prefills the 'default value' and
also skips input of the location on the hand terminal. You can only receive
on this specific location (ASP and CAB, in CAB the location is also not
visible)
- Empty: the location field on the hand
terminal is always empty and has to be scanned (ASP and CAB)
- Advice: prefills the location with either
the location as planned in the production order, or else the main location
of the received item. You are still able to change and scan the
location on the hand terminal (ASP only, available since 406)
- Advice + skip: prefills the location with
the planned or item default location, and also
skips input of the location on the hand terminal (ASP only, available since
406)
Section: Quantity
Default quantity
ASP and CAB. Prefills the quantity field on the hand terminal with this value,
when the quantity is not prefilled from a scan like an EAN128 bar code. The
default value is 1. Change this value to 0 if you want to avoid just pressing
'Enter' in the receipts process too quickly (and receiving quantity 1).
Display which value
ASP only, available since 406. Allows you to prefill the quantity field on the
sc, with following values:
- Default value: prefills the quantity field
with the value configured in setting 'Default quantity'
- Advice: prefills the quantity field with a
default production size per item, as defined in the field 'Standard
production qty' in item maintenance, WMS button.
Minimum quantity
ASP and CAB. This setting determines the minimum quantity allowed to enter on
the hand terminal. This setting is intended to avoid errors on the hand
terminal, like scanning the item code or an EAN128 bar code in the quantity
field.
Maximum quantity
ASP and CAB. This setting determines the maximum quantity allowed to enter on
the hand terminal. This setting is intended to avoid errors on the hand
terminal.
Section: date registration
These settings determine what serial/batch dates will be registered on the
scanners. Please read
this document for more information on serial/batch date registration.
Section: Lot number
Note: S/B number generation cannot be used together with the lot number functionality.
In this section you can enable the lot number functionality for this WMS
process. The lot number functionality can be enabled for serial and/or batch
items for the following WMS processes:
- Receipt registration
- Stock inventory
- Stock transactions
- Production Receipts
and is supported for the following actions:
- Receiving a serial or batch item with a lot number.
- Performing a stock transaction with a serial or batch item and a lot
number.
- Auto-receiving a serial or batch item with a lot number.
- Receiving a serial or batch item with a lot number using GS-128.
- Performing a count for a serial or batch item with a lot number.
- Performing a production receipt for a serial or batch item with a
lot number.
- Receiving a serial or batch item with a lot number with scanner
settings disabled.
- Printing serial or batch numbers with a serial or batch item with a
lot number.
- Auto-receiving a serial or batch item with a lot number with SKU.
Lot number for batch items
Enable this option if you want to use the lot number functionality for batch
items for the production receipt process.
Lot number for serial items
Enable this option if you want to use the lot number functionality for serial
items for the production receipt process.
Section: Scanner - Activesync
These settings are only applied when using the E-WMS
CAB client without RF, so when you have to connect to a PC (cradle) to
communicate with an E-WMS Control Center.
Serial/batch
This setting determines how to handle input of serial/batch numbers in general. When there is no item
master data on the hand
terminal, it can not be determined if an item is a serial/batch item or
not. Using this setting, you can still configure if you want to enter
serial/batch number for all receipts, using following choices:

Normal (default value): serial/batch
number entry is disabled (you never receive serial/batch items)

Serial: assumes you are always receiving
serial number items (entry of serial number per single unit, but can be left
empty)

Batch: assumes you are always receiving
batch items (entry of batch number for each receipt, but can be left empty)
Browse items
This setting determines whether it is allowed to to browse in item master data
on the scanner, thus able to select an item from the list, instead of scanning
an item code. If no item master data was exported to the scanner, then this
setting could be disabled.
