Exact Synergy Enterprise offers following integration solutions for the on-premises Microsoft Office family products (Office, Exchange and Lync):

  • Synergy Office Integration (SOI)
    Set of Office Add-ins for Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point for Office 2007 and higher.
  • Synergy Calendar Synchronization
    Services used for synchronization of Exchange and Synergy calendars. Officially supported for Exchange server 2010 and in the pilot test for Exchange server 2013 support.
  • Lync Presence Control
    Indicator of user presence, as in Lync and Outlook, featuring communication possibilities such as direct IM, email and Lync audio/video conversation. Officially supported for OCS 2007 R2 and Lync 2010 and in pilot for Lync 2013 support.


Lately many questions are raised about support of Office 365, mostly about the support for the ESE integration solutions listed above.

Important notes:

-Synergy Office Integration (SOI) supports Microsoft Office 365 users who have acquired Microsoft Office desktop installation separately or through Microsoft Office 365 subscription plans.

-Office 365 Proplus is a version of Microsoft Office that comes with many Microsoft Office 365 plans whereby it is based on Microsoft Office 2013 but it uses the click-to-run installation and software update management.

-Office 365 ProPlus is officially supported since Synergy Product Update 253 (and for Globe 408)

-Click-to-Run (C2R) is a new way of delivering and updating the Office products you’re already familiar with. Office Click-to-Run (C2R) products execute in a virtual application environment on the local operating system with a very limited access to the system registry. Office 2013 Click-to-Run changed the run-time so it supports add-in better than Office 2010 Click-to-run.
Synergy Office Integration (SOI) works with the Office 2013 Click-to-run, Office 365 ProPlus.

-Office 365 Home and Office 365 Personal are not to be confused with the Office 365 suites that are sold to businesses and that have online versions of servers like Exchange, Lync and SharePoint.
Office 365 Home/Personal are designed for individual consumers, who are able to install local versions of the Office suite applications on five/one Windows or MacOS computers and on five/one tablets (Ipad as well!).

-SOI doesn’t support Office on Demand!
