At this page, you can view and modify the competences at level 1, 2, 3, or 4. You can also add sub-competences to a competence that is in level 1, 2, or 3, with the competence being a level higher than the sub-competences. However, you are not allowed to add sub-competences to a competence that is in level 4. For more information on the levels of competences, see Viewing Competency Groups Listing.
To create and modify the competences which are linked to a competency group, function right 508 – Maintain payroll components is required. Users with the HR role have this function right.
For more details on what you can do with function rights or levels, go to System/Setup/Security/Function rights, select the required module, and then click on the relevant ID. To find out the functions you can perform with a particular role, go to System/Setup/Security/Roles, type in the description, click Refresh, and then click the required link under the Role column.
Click this to save the competence entry.
Click this to save the competence entry and create another competence entry.
Note: This button is available only if you are creating a competence to be linked to a competency group.
Click this to delete the competence from the competency group.
Note: This button is available only if you are modifying a competence. You can only delete the competence from the group if the competency group is not linked to any profile. The deletion will only remove the competence from the competency group, but not delete the competence from the system. Upon deletion, all child competences which are linked to this competence will also be deleted from the competency group.
Click this to exit.
Type a unique code for the competence. This is mandatory.
Note: You can type up to a 20-character alphanumeric code but if you are using letters, these must be in capital.
This displays the description of the competency group which the competence will be linked to. This description cannot be modified here. You can click the description of the competency group to view its details, and then click Edit to modify the description.
This displays the level of competence for the competency group. This level is defined by the system according to the level of the competence that you are creating. For more information on the levels of competences, see Viewing Competency Groups Listing.
This displays the parent competence of this competence. The parent competence is always a level higher than this competence. This information follows the concept of the competency level and cannot be edited.
Note: This is only available if you are creating or modifying a competence that is in level 2, 3, or 4.
Type the description of the competence. This is mandatory.
Select the field type that is used for the competence. This is mandatory.
Type the number to define the weight factor of the competence. This weight factor will be used during the calculation of ratings in the profiles and scores for the applicant-vacancy matching process.
Note: This is applicable only if the type selected at Field type is Value. For more information, see Viewing Field Types and the Field Values.
Select a competence to link it to this competence. By default, the browser will show the competences with the same Field type, of the same type (competence/target agreement/performance indicator), and competences which have not been previously linked to other competences. By linking a competence, the value or rating for this newly-created competence will automatically follow the value or rating of the linked competence. However, the value or rating can always be changed manually.
Select a policy document to be attached to this competence.
