If you have activated a country to use the country in the system, it is possible to import the country-related metadata from the xml folder in the installation directory by clicking under the Metadata column in the overview of countries. For more information on activating a country, see Overview of Countries. Country metadata refers to data about the specific country. For instance, it can be the states and the public holidays of the country. By importing the metadata, you can use the data in your database.
Go to System/Setup/References/Countries, define the criteria to display the overview of countries and then click Show. Next, click under the MetaData column to import the metadata of the selected country. Take note that the icon is only available for active countries.
To import a country's metadata, function rights 93 – Maintain countries is required. Users with the HR role have this function right.
For more details on what you can do with function rights or levels, go to System/Setup/Security/Function rights, select the required module, and then click on the relevant ID. To find out the functions you can perform with a particular role, go to System/Setup/Security/Roles, type in the description, click Refresh, and then click the required link under the Role column.
Click this to import the selected metadata component(s).
Click this to exit.
This displays the active country which you want to import the metadata.
Select the check box of the metadata component you want to import. You can select more than one metadata component to be imported at the same time.

Click this to view the metadata content. In the above example, click the icon at States to view all the states in Australia.
