E-WMS settings: WMS Transfers

Introduction

This document describes the settings available for the E-WMS transfers process in Exact Globe+ at System > General > Settings > WMS Transfers.

Description

The WMS Transfers tab contains specific settings for the E-WMS transfer process. In E-WMS, transfers refer to inter branch transfers such as transfers between warehouse locations.

Hand terminal settings also have to be configured for this process. For more information on hand terminal settings, see E-WMS scanner settings - Transfers.

General section

Communication

This setting determines the default method of reading back scanned transfers from the mobile devices. For more information on E-WMS communication methods, see E-WMS - Communication methods. If a specific communication type is configured in the warehouse maintenance screen, the communication type will be used instead of this one.

Ask user

If this is selected, you can choose the communication method through a pop-up window at each 'read-back' in Control Center Transfers. This option should not be selected. This option should be used when you are communicating with different types of hand terminals. For example, wireless ASP hand terminals and with CAB Active sync hand terminals (it is not recommended to use several communication methods in the same database). It is also possible to pre-define a communication type for each warehouse in the warehouse maintenance screen.

Scan code

This determines how an item is identified after scanning an item or scan code in the Item field. For more information on scan code setting, see E-WMS - Scan code setting.

Printer

This is the default printer used when printing E-WMS reports. For more information on printer settings, see E-WMS - Printer settings.

Multi-user transfers

This allows you to scan a transfer issue on scanner 1, and receive the transfer on scanner 2 in the scanner's transfer atTransfer to and Transfer to one.

If this setting is disabled, only the person with the scanner login who scanned the transfer issue can scan the receipt of that transfer.

When enabled,

  • the transfer scanner settings Multi-user issues and Multi-user receipts will be available. For more information on transfer scanner settings, see E-WMS scanner settings - Transfers.
  • all transfers scanned at Transfer from are saved as separate transactions regardless they are scanned as multi-user issue or not. A new transaction ID is created every time the scan menu is started. If this setting is disabled, all the transfers scanned at Transfer from will be using the same transaction even if you start scanning Transfer from again.
  • at Transfer to and Transfer to one, a browser is displayed whereby the operator can choose the right pending transfer based on the details in the browser.

Auto release lock (minutes)

Type the number of minutes after which you want the locked transaction to be released. "60" will be displayed by default. The minimum number of minutes is 10.

If there is an error during processing, the transaction will be locked and the Process button will be disabled if you select a transaction line.

The lock time will be checked with the auto release lock period that you have defined. If the difference of the locked time and current time is greater than or equal to the auto release lock value, the lock for the transaction will be released. The Process button will be enabled if the record is not locked.

Read from scanner section

These settings are applied when reading back transactions from the scanners.

File name

For more information on file name, see WMS file name settings.

Report settings

For more information on report settings, see document WMS reports.

Immediate validation

If this is enabled, the validation process will automatically start after reading back and the transfer lines will change the status to Validated or Picking error. If this is disabled, the transactions will contain the Picked status until Validate is clicked or the transaction is opened. When the WMS RF Transfers service is active, this setting should be enabled to allow automatic validating and processing.

Validate section

These settings are used for the transfer lines with the Picked status after the transfer line is read back.

Report settings

For more information on report settings, see WMS reports.

Immediate processing

If this is enabled, processing the transfers (as shelf stock) will automatically start after validation is completed without errors. If this is disabled, the transactions will contain the Validated status until Process is clicked. When the WMS RF Transfers service is active, this setting should be enabled to allow automatic validating and processing.

Process section

These settings are used for the transfer lines with Validated statuses when processing the transactions.
