PU 504 | 503 | 502 (Globe+) and 424 (Globe): Prorate VAT return 2024 (Belgian legislation)

On January 1, 2024, Belgium introduced the mixed taxable entities to calculate their VAT deduction with the general pro rata method. With this change, you can now manually specify the percentage and export it into the VAT return form.

We have added the Prorate button at Finance > VAT / Statistics > VAT > VAT return.

The Prorate screen opens when you click the Prorate button. You can only fill in from “0” to “99” for all the fields. The total amount in the Actual usage 100%, Actual usage 0%, and Actual usage Variable fields under the Prorate section must add up to “100”. Otherwise, you will get an error.

All the fields under the Special rate section will be enabled if the fields under the Prorate section add up to “100”. The Show more Special rate check box will only be enabled if you have defined all the fields under the Special rate section.

Sample XML file format based on different conditions

You will see the XML file below if all the fields in the Prorate screen are defined.

If some of the fields are not defined, the corresponding tag will not be generated.

If all the fields under the Prorate section are not defined, the deduction will not be generated.

If the year is before “2024”, the deduction will not be generated.
